Haverhill Man Dies After Being Pinned By Tree

HAVERHILL (WBZ-AM) -- A 60-year-old man died after the damaged tree he was clearing from his backyard fell and pinned him against another tree, the Essex District Attorney's Office said.

Haverhill Fire was called to the scene on Hoyt Road around 5 p.m. Sunday.

The man and his adult son had been trying to clear tree branches damaged over the winter, including a large tree that had snapped and was leaning against another tree.

While he was trying to cut the snapped tree, the supporting one fell, sending the snapped tree on top of him.

Crews cut that tree away and took the man to Holy Family Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
