BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Marcel E. Hug won the men’s 2018 Boston Marathon Wheelchair Division Monday with an official time of 1:46:25 unofficially.
This year’s race was different in year’s past -- It’s the slowest winning time since 1987.
Hug’s fourth straight victory comes as weather conditions from cold rain and winds made the race unbearable.
Ernst Van Dyk of South Africa finished in second in 1:47:14 and American Daniel Romanchuck finished 1:50:39.
In a post-race press conference, Hug called this year's race the hardest he's ever done. He needed medical attention after he crossed the finish line.
Asked if he had any fun "Not Really" Hug laughed and answered.
