BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Desiree Linden won the 2018 Boston Marathon Womens' Division Monday with an official time of 2:33:41.
This marks the first win by an American elite marathoner in 33 years.
The historic winner of the women's division thought she didn't have a chance as she ran from Hopkinton to Boston.
"She has been coming back and coming back year after year and improving each time," said WBZ NewsRadio1030 Race Analyst Sharon Barbano.
Sarah Sellers finished in second place with a official time of 02:44:04 and Krista Duchene of Canada placed in third with 02:44:20.
