WATCH: Two High School Students Learn They Are Going To College For Free

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Two East Boston high school students are going to college for free.

Kayla Elliot and Juliane Jorge have won full 4-year college scholarships through the non-profit called scholar athletes.

Both were surprised by the announcement from their peers on Tuesday.

" I was surprised -- shocked." said Elliott.

Elliot has a 5.2 cumulative grade point average while playing varsity softball. She’s going to curry college to become a nurse.

"I am so thankful for everyone who pushed me to take classes that were hard rather than the easier ones," Elliott said.

Meanwhile, Jorge has a 5.0 grade point average and the captain of the volleyball and basketball teams. She’s going to Regis college.

"I'm really thankful for this," Jorge said.
