BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- A man currently in jail in California will be charged in the killing of his ex-fiance in North Andover last weekend, the Essex District Attorney's office said Friday afternoon.

Brian Chevalier, 51 of Merrimack, was arrested in Imperial County, California on separate charges.

Now, the Essex DA's office has issued a warrant for his arrest in the murder of Wendi Rose Davidson, who was found dead in the basement of her North Andover home on Sunday, April 21.

Chevalier is set to appear before an Imperial County, California judge Monday on a fugitive from justice charge.

He was charged in California with violating his parole in New Hampshire, and faces a larceny charge out of Massachusetts as well.

It was not yet known when he will be returned to Massachusetts to face the murder charge.

Chevalier was sentenced to 30 years in prison for kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and choking a former girlfriend in 2003. He was set free last year.

The Essex DA's office, North Andover Police, and Essex State Police Detective Unit are still investigating Davidson's murder.
