RANDOLPH (24/7 NewsSource/WBZ-AM) -- A 27-year-old Randolph man is accused of taking his grandmother along on a high-speed chase.
Police say Patrick Laubenstein picked up his grandmother from her Milford nursing home Tuesday and took her to the Envision Bank on North Main Street to withdraw money from her account.
Bank employees refused to hand over the money and notified the authorities, leading to a high-speed pursuit on Route 24 and I-93 North--but Randolph Police said they stopped pursuing after they learned the grandmother was in the car.
Laubenstein was eventually caught outside a home on Hilltop Road in Milton.
The 81-year-old grandmother was found unharmed and returned to her nursing home.
Laubenstein faces arraignment in Quincy District Court Wednesday.
He is charged with abuse/neglect of an elderly person, operating to endanger, failure to stop for police, and uttering a forged instrument.
