Struggling Red Sox, Royals Ready For Matinee Rubber Game

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Brian Johnson gave up a three-run homer to Jorge Soler in the top of the 13th inning and the Red Sox couldn't quite rally all the way back in a 7-6 loss to the Royals. 

Rubber-match on Wednesday at 1:05p.m. at Fenway Quick turnaround after last night's affair ended at about 11:30p.m,

Drew Pomeranz will get the start opposite Danny Duffy in a meeting of southpaws. Pomeranz has a 7-27 era through two starts, but he has a 1-98 career mark opposite Kansas City.Duffy has a 5-40 era and he's still seeking his first win in his seventh start. 

The lefty's 0-and-4 with a 6-75 mark in six lifetime outings against Boston. That ERA approaches 8 at the Fens.

Sox still pace the American League, but their 21-and-8 record is tied with the Diamondbacks for the best in baseball. 

Boston's lost six of 10 and, after this one, will hit the road for 10.An unrelated off-field move you may be interested in - the Royals released long-time Red Sox righty Clay Buchholz from his minor league contract.
