BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox manager Alex Cora's not kidding about Mookie Betts.
"I do feel that his approach is a lot different than last year," he said. "He's looking for pitches to do damage with, and he's doing it."
Betts went 4-for-4 with three solo homers in yesterday's 5-4 win over the Royals to cap a 3-and-3 homestand.
That's a franchise record four career three home run games for Betts. The outfielder's the youngster player in MLB history to achieve the feat.
Betts leads the majors with a .365 average and he's even with Mike Trout with 11 long-balls. He said he's not thinking power when he steps to the plate, but...
"I know what I can do," he said. "I know I have the ability to drive the ball, so now I'm just kind of showing it ... I know I can drive it, it's just a matter of using the whole field, and I'm driving it everywhere."
Betts and his baseball-leading 22-and-8 Sox will open a 10-game trip in Texas tonight at 8:05 p.m. The Rangers have lost three of four.
David Price will get the start opposite fellow southpaw Mike Minor.
Price has a 5-11 career ERA in 14 starts against Texas. Minor last started versus Boston in 2014.
