Police: Vermont Murder Suspect Believed To Be On Cape Cod

SOUTH BURLINGTON, VT (WBZ-AM)  -- Police in South Burlington, Vermont are warning people on Cape Cod to be on the lookout for a man wanted in connection to a recent murder in their town.

They say that Leroy Headley, 36 of South Burlington VT, is wanted in the connection to the murder of his girlfriend Anako “Anette” Lumumba, 33 also of South Burlington.

On May 3, 2018, Police in Vermont were contacted by The Falmouth, MA Police Dept saying that advising them that a man, a relative of Headley, entered their department to report a possible shooting in South Burlington. 

The man told Police that Headley had called him and said that he shot his girlfriend.

Police in Vermont later responded to Headley's last known residence 10 Southview Drive in South Burlington  where they found the body of Lumumba.

Headley was last seen driving driving a 2017 Blue Nissan Pathfinder with VT registration HBR 281.

Police say that Headley has extensive family ties to the Cape Cod area.

While investigators say that Headley is assumed to be armed and dangerous, there are no imminent dangers to the community, he should not be approached by anyone other than police.
