BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Attorney General Maura Healey wants to pull the plug on the competitive residential energy suppliers industry in the State.
Healey is calling on lawmakers to pull the plug energy supply companies, after receiving hundreds of complaints from customers over the past 3 years.
But her critics want to keep the industry competitive.
She says is riddled with “bad actors” who have scammed millions of dollars from ratepayers.
A report by her office shows many of the victims are low income from communities like Dorchester, Brockton, and Lynn, who ended up paying more than what they would’ve paid if they stayed with their utility companies.
Chris Kallaher with Direct Energy Believes the AG’s report is one-sided and doesn’t show the full picture.
