Animal Rights Activists Call For Tough Penalties For Those Who Abuse

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) --  Animal rights activists are urging lawmakers to pass a bill that would strengthen penalties for animal abuse inspired by the so-called puppy doe case.

since the puppy doe case received widespread attention in 2013, Massachusetts has created the protecting animal welfare and safety act, or paws. now, a new bill, called “paws 2” creates additional protections for animals. State Senator Bruce Tarr is one of the sponsors.

The bill already passed in the senate. He’s hoping the house will pick it up before the end of this session.
