NightSide with Dan Rea – Rundown for May 16, 2018

Mayor Walsh is in Studio!  Every month, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh joins Dan in the NightSide studio to talk about the biggest issues facing the city of Boston and to take your calls.  Tonight, Dan will ask Mayor Walsh about his trip to Ireland, sports betting and whatever else you’d like to discuss.  Call in with your comments or questions and join the conversation!

Sanctuary State.  Is Massachusetts about to become the next sanctuary state?  Dan will be joined by Jessica Vaughan of the Center for Immigration Studies to discuss the latest developments.  Listen tonight and call the show!

Bad Judgement.  A Peabody man found with more than a half an ounce of heroin three years ago will not serve jail time after pleading guilty to charges of drug possession with intent to distribute.  Tuesday, a Salem Superior Court judge imposed just two years of probation on the man, instead of the requested three years of prison time by the prosecutor. "This was not a drug addict who was dealing to fund his own addiction," Judge Timothy Feeley said, "but rather, a person who made some terrible judgments and decisions, but made them for what he thought was in the best interest of his family."  This is not the first questionable decision made by Feeley, he also lowered the bail for John Williams, who made then bail and killed a Maine police officer.  State Representative Paul Tucker will join Dan in studio to discuss what should be done.  Call the show and join the discussion!
