Boston Public School Teacher Charged For Assaulting Child

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM, 24/7 News Source) -- A public school gym teacher in Boston is charged with inappropriately touching four 10 years old girls was arraigned in East Boston courtroom Thursday.  

Nicholas Speller, 31, of Malden is on administrative leave following his arrest late Wednesday afternoon at the Patrick J. Kennedy Elementary School in East Boston. 

 School officials say they have contacted the parents of the students who were directly impacted and counseling is being provided to any children in need of support. 

Speller's wife and members of this Somerville Church were with him in the East Boston courtroom.

Bishop Henry Moultrie of Our Lord Jesus Christ Church in Somerville, told reporters outside the courtroom that Speller is a man of integrity -- he doesn't use alcohol.

Prosecutors say Speller appeared dis oriented after ina ppropriately touching four girls after which he put his head down on a desk.

In court Speller said nothing. A Judge ordered him to wear a bracelet and to stay away from anyone under 16.

He is due in court next month.
