Norovirus Outbreak Forces Barnstable School To Close Friday

BARNSTABLE, MA (WBZ-AM) – A school on the cape has been shut down due to a suspected case of Norovirus. The Centerville Elementary school in Barnstable is closed Friday while crews do a deep cleaning of the building.

Barnstable Superintendent of Schools Meg Mayo-Brown, says more than 200 students and staff started showing symptoms on Wednesday

Mayo-Brown says they're giving kids a long 3-day weekend while the school undergoes a deep cleaning.

School officials are asking parents to keep their sick kids home from school until they're free of all symptoms for at least 24 hours.
