Bridge and Roadway Dedicated To Fallen Auburn Police Officer

AUBURN, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Family, friends, and colleagues gathered for a dedications ceremony for fallen Auburn Police officer Ronald Tarentino Jr. Monday where a bridge and a roadway was renamed in his honor.

Tarentino,Jr, 42, was shot in the back on May 22, 2016 by a man he had pulled over. That man was later killed by police.

The Swanson Road bridge over Interstate 290 in Auburn and a portion of Route 9 in Leicester are being dedicated in his name. 

In addition to being an officer in Auburn, he lived with his wife and three children in Leicester and had previously served with the Leicester Police Department.

Markers will be placed at each location.
