U.S. Postal Service To Issue Scented Stamps

BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- Get ready to scratch and sniff when you go to the mailbox--The U.S. Postal Service announced they will issue scented stamps.

"They feature what we call frozen treats or popsickles," William Gicker of the Postal Service told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens. "Each stamp features two popsickles. They are fruity and sweet."

The Frozen Treats Forever stamps were designed by art director Antonio Alcala and Leslie Badani of Alexandria, Virginia, and use the watercolor illustrations of Santa Monica, California artist Margaret Berg.

"We're always trying to keep the stamp program interesting, and this seemed like a fun way of sending both a friendly little stamp and a nice little smell on all kinds of cards and letters and birthday invitations and that type of thing," Gicker said.

The sweet, fruity stamps will become available in about one month, and will be available for pre-order on the USPS website soon.
