CAMBRIDGE (WBZ-AM) -- A gas station clerk is recovering after being shot in the foot during a robbery at a gas station early Wednesday morning.

The robbery happened just before 4 a.m. at a Shell station on Cambridge Street in Cambridge.

Two men went into the station, and confronted the clerk after one of the men took a bottle of water without paying.

One of the men went to a car, got a bag, pulled out a gun, and shot the clerk in the foot.

The man in the car took off, and the shooter took off on foot.

The clerk was treated at a local hospital and has been released.

There have been no arrests in the shooting.

The store, which is open 24 hours, was closed Wednesday morning as police investigated.
