AUBURN (WBZ-AM) -- Authorities have tranquilized and captured a bear that was spotted around Auburn several times throughout the day Thursday.

Auburn Police posted about the bear Thursday morning, saying it had been spotted near the Bryn Mawr School and Swanson Road Intermediate School. Children at those schools were told to stay inside during recess.

They warned residents not to approach the bear and to keep bird feeders and other possible food sources inside so as not to attract bears.

Environmental Police were able to locate and tranquilize the bear. In the photo shared above, the animal can be seen being cooled on a pile of ice before being transported to another location to be released back into the wild.
