Body Of Missing North Andover Swimmer Found In Lake

The body of a 22-year-old Lawrence man has been recovered from Lake Cochichewick in North Andover. The man went underwater while swimming with friends Thursday and never re-surfaced.

North Andover Police and Fire, as well as Massachusetts State Police Air Wing and Dive Team, and the Salem Police Dive Team searched the lake last night until about 10:00 PM.

The search continued this morning at 8:00 AM with North Andover Police and Fire, Salem Police Dive Team, Lawrence Police Boat and Massachusetts Environmental Police. The body was found at 10:18 AM.

The man's family was at the scene and was able to positively identify him as Rosido Jara, 22, of Lawrence.

"With the murky conditions, it was difficult for them to locate," said North Andover fire chief William McCarthy about the body. "They had the area, they used sonar, they knew where it was, but it was just basically feeling with your hands."
