Red Sox Weather Injuries And Survive Grueling Road Trip

Mookie Betts has missed the Red Sox' last eight games and Dustin Pedroia's been out five straight, but Boston has survived with a 5-3 record over the last eight games. The club still holds a one-game lead on New York for the best record in baseball.

Yesterday's winning pitcher, Rick Porcello, said it's been a grind playing through injuries, but Mitch Moreland told NESN it's great to head home after a split in Houston.

"You play 162 games... No team's gonna stay healthy for the entire year. And we all have to step up when we lose guys like Mookie and Pedey, and everyone did that," said Porcello.

"We've got all the confidence in the world," added Moreland. "We've been playing great ball all year and to come in here and get these two to come in here and finish out the series and take that back home is nice."
