SAUGUS, MA (WBZ-AM/24/7 News Source) --  Student athletes from Saugus High School have been suspended from postseason games for smoking cigars on their graduation day.

Six lacrosse players and one baseball player were suspended after they lit up cigars at the end of the graduation ceremony on Friday night at Stackpole Field.

The suspensions were handed down because the school's policy saying it is a violation to use, possess, or be in the presence of tobacco.

The rule spans from the first fall practice to the final athletic competition of the year.

School officials say there are currently only seven student-athletes facing suspension, but there could be more who are punished.
