Sox Gear Up For MLB's Amateur Draft

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Red Sox are off tonight, but Major League Baseball's Amateur Draft begins with round one and Boston's scheduled to pick 26th.

It's hard to know - especially in a baseball draft - which direction the Sox will prioritize, but the team's Vice President of Amateur Scouting Mike Rikard said the debate over whether to choose a high school or college player comes down to talent.

Recent first-round Sox draft picks the last five years include Jason Groome, Andrew Benintendi, Michael Chavis, Trey Ball, Brian Johnson, and Deven Marrero.
