MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) — A New Hampshire fire department says a high school student spilled chemicals in science class and was injured, leading to the evacuation of part of the school.

The incident happened before noon Wednesday at Merrimack High School. The student was mixing chemicals during the class. She suffered some burns. It wasn't immediately known what the chemicals were.

The student's injuries were treated by EMTs on the scene, and then she was taken to a Nashua hospital. There was no word on her condition.

The area has been cleared and students are back in school.
