FOXBOROUGH, MA (WBZ-AM) -- New England wide receiver Julian Edelman has issued a statement regarding his four game suspension for reportedly violating the National Football League's performance enhancing substance policy.
Edelman issued the statement Friday afternoon through his Instagram story.
“I am very sorry - I don't know what happened. I've taken man, many tests obviously over the course of my career, and nothing like this has ever happened. I apologize to the Kraft family, my coaches, teammates and fans. As this matter is being appealed, i can't say anymore but no matter what, I will be ready to play and pursue another championship with our team and for Patriots fans around the world.”
It was not clear nor additional information just yet on what substance was involved.
Edelman says he is currently appealing the suspension.
