Honor Flags Stolen From Memorial

MANSFIELD, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Mansfield Police are investigating the theft of five flags from that town's tribute to first responders and military personnel.

A field of red, white and blue sits on the green grass of Mansfield's south common. All purchased with donations that have raised $50,000-dollars for veterans charities and scholarships over the last three years.

Among the newest additions are five flags honoring police, firefighters, Prisoner of War’s and our service men and women -- donated by a  Mansfield resident recently out of the United States Marines.

Sometime overnight Saturday those five banners were taken--stripped right off their poles the field of honor chairperson Jerri Rumsis can't imagine why anyone would do this.

" Obviously they have no respect or no honor I mean why would you do that it's pretty unquestionable," she said.

While Police are on the case, Rumsis is just hoping the thief or thieves get a conscience and bring those banners back.
