BOSTON, MA (24/7 News Source) -- A bipartisan coalition of 79 House and Senate members is asking the Department of Public Utilities to reject a utility-backed proposal to cap the amount of credits that community solar customers get on their bills.
The coalition has sent a letter to DPU Chair Angela O'Connor expressing support for expanding access to solar energy statewide.
The group says the proposal would put community solar at a significant disadvantage compared to rooftop solar.
Acton Senator Jamie Eldridge, chair of the Senate Green Caucus, says it's shameful utility companies want to decrease access to solar energy for millions of Massachusetts residents.
