WBZ's Big Wiffle Ball Win over Former Red Sox Hurler

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) --  What do you get when you mix a plastic bat and a plastic ball with 10 people who work in Radio News? 

An ultimate wiffle ball team.

Some of the staff of WBZ NewsRadio1030 took part in the 8th Annual WiffleBall Challenge Thursday, an annual fundraiser for the Travis Roy Foundation and Franciscan Children's at Boston University. 

The event is a brain child of Travis Roy, a Former Boston University Hockey player who was paralyzed from the neck down during a hockey collision in 1995. 

His foundation, The Travis Roy Foundation and Franciscan Children's in Brighton hold this annual tournament to raise funds and to share the awareness about those who suffer from crippling injuries. 

Nearly 32 Boston area organizations  participated in this event raisng more than $500,000 dollars.

The WBZ NewsRadio1030 squad went 1-and-1, including a 2-nothing shutout of the group from Oxford Properties. 

Reporter Ben "Cy Young" Parker tossed 3 shutout innings in the win, while WBZ tagged former Red Sox hurler Lenny DiNardo for both runs in his 3 frames.

The team then lost in game 2 against Appleton Partners with bases loaded 3-0,.
