BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- The Sox swept the Orioles to open their 10-game road trip, but things didn't go quite as well against a much tougher opponent in Seattle. Boston salvaged the split with yesterday's 9-3 triumph, but manager Alex Cora said after his group was capable of better.

"We're disappointed we didn't win game 2," Cora said. "We gotta finish them. There's a team where, you gotta play nine innings. Today, we did an outstanding job finishing the game, and we got the W. Although it was okay, two out of four, we'll take it--but there was one that slipped away."

That second game was a 7-6 loss. Frustrating after the Sox led 6-3 after three innings and 6-5 entering the eighth. Off-day today and one stop left before a return home. That's in Minnesota, starting tomorrow.

Twins are fresh off a 3-and-3 trip to Detroit and Cleveland. They're 31-and-37, as compared to the 49-and-24 Sox. Chris Sale will start tomorrow. His club's only percentage points behind the Yankees and in a virtual tie for first in the majors.
