Dream Come True: Boy Sworn In As Honorary Police Officer

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts police department helped fulfill a young boy's dream by making him an honorary officer.

WPRI-TV reports that 8-year-old Jordan Ortiz wore a uniform, badge and radio as he was sworn in as an honorary member of the Fall River Police Department on Thursday.

Ortiz has spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down.Ortiz became friends with Officer Deb Jackson, the resource officer at Carlton M. Viveiros Elementary School and told her about his dream of becoming an officer.

Ortiz said his "dream came true."Ortiz's grandmother says the boy's dreams get "bigger and bigger as the days go by." 

His family says he also wants to run for mayor someday.
