BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Thursday's rain didn't dampen the spirits of the organizers of the 37th annual Boston Harborfest.
A list of top brass from the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and Port of Boston were on hand with other dignitaries and organizers to kick off Boston Harbor best at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. The public was treated to a huge red white and blue layered cake.
Executive Director of the Freedom Trail Foundation Suzanne Taylor tells WBZ NewsRadio1030 that it took over fifteen people to bring it on to the tables where it's displayed.
"You know there are historic buildings displayed on it as well as waves through celebrate the harbor so you'll probably see lots of pictures of the cake all over social media," she said.
The event runs through July 7and includes activities along Boston's Harbor live entertainment and fireworks celebrations and more.
