BOSTON, MA (24/7 News Source) -- The woman nominated to be the interim superintendent of schools in Boston says she intends to seek major changes. Laura Perille says the School Committee and Mayor Marty Walsh have given her broad authority to make improvements to city schools.
Perille is taking over for outgoing Superintendent Tommy Chang, who is leaving after three years in the position. Walsh says widespread problems in city schools led him to believe that a change is necessary, and that Chang struggled with school system operations.
