BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) – Final preparations are underway to celebrate America’s Birthday in Boston. Security will be tight as all eyes will be on the Esplanade for the 4th of July.
The hatch shell is once again ready to host the annual Boston Pops Fireworks spectacular.
After undergoing $2.4 million dollars in renovations, the dome will once again light up in red, white, and blue.
Boston Pops conductor Keith Lockhart says this year’s lineup of artists include Rachel Platten, The Indigo girls, and Rita Moreno.
"I am as excited, thrilled and honored to be here as I I have ever been," said Lockhart
The weather could pose a danger.
Officials are also urging the public to hydrate as temperatures are expected to be in the 90’s. Mayor Walsh is urging people visitors to plan accordingly, large coolers will not be allowed.
Here are restrictions what people cannot bring:
- No coolers on wheels.
- No backpacks
- No Pre-mixed beverages
- All liquids must be in a sealed clear plastic container not to exceed 2 liters
