BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- A crowd jumped into action after a woman became trapped between an MBTA train and the platform Friday night.
The woman was stepping off an Orange Line train at the Mass Ave MBTA stop when her leg became pinned between the train car and the platform. A good Samaritan spearheaded a team effort to set her free, and started pushing on the train. Pete Shammon spoke to WBZ-TV.
"Everybody started running over and grabbing the train and pushing," he said. "It was probably 15, 20 people started pushing the train. About five seconds later, she's out."
Shammon said he thought of the plan because he recently saw a viral video of a similar situation that took place in Australia.
The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for a leg injury.
