METHUEN (WBZ-AM) -- Methuen Police captured a 41-year-old man in connection with an investigation into a domestic incident after an intense search that involved the Massachusetts State Police Air Wing and a K-9 unit Thursday morning.

Police shared a photo of Matthew Pinion on their Facebook page, and warned the public not to approach him if they spot him. The department didn't share details about the incident, but said Pinion fled from them on a silver bicycle in the area of Washington and Howe Streets.

Methuen Police Chief Joe Solomon said Pinion was known to the department. He told WBZ NewsRadio 1030 why the helicopter was called in.

"This subject was wanted for a domestic violence incident from yesterday," Solomon said. "And then when he kicked the door into the house today, he was carrying a boxcutter--so he escalated his level of violence, and when he fled, we thought it was important enough to be able to locate him, so we called the State Police."

Officers found Pinion hiding in the bushes nearby, capturing him around 12:30 p.m.

"As the K-9 was approaching an area of condos, a woman that lived there said she had heard some rustling in the bushes as officers were approaching," Solomon said. "She continued to search, went over to the bushes, they located the gentleman hiding in the bush."
