Off-Duty Boston Fire Fighter Killed in Motorcycle Crash

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- An off-duty Boston Firefighter was killed in a motorcycle crash on July 3, according to Boston Fire Department.

Justin D. Poitras, 31, was off-duty when he was involved in a crash and died from his injuries on July 4th.

Boston Fire did not specify the circumstances or location of the crash.

Poitras joined Boston Fire on October 31,2016 and was assigned to Engine Company 42 based in Roxbury.

“Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family, friends, and the members of the Boston Fire Department as we mourn his loss,” the fire department said in a release.

According to BFD prior to becoming a Boston Firefighter, he served 4 years in the United States Marine Corp where he participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom and received an honorable discharge. 

His brother Joshua is a firefighter in Lowell.
