WEYMOUTH, MA (WBZ-AM) Thunderstorms that passed through the area on Friday stuck a house in Weymouh

But the homeowner knew what to do. The three bedroom on Rosedale drive was quiet., with Jack Larkin, a retired Boston Fire Deputy Chief, relaxing on a rainy afternoon when a bang hit the roof.

Larkin knew not to mistake the following silence for an all clear. He started inspecting his home after feeling the strike.

"Oh yeah you can feel it. I walked the first floor, everything seemed good then I started walking upstairs to the second floor and then I couldn't smell the smoke, I got to the top of the floor and look in th the back bedroom and the attic was on fire," he told WBZ NewsRadio1030's Karyn Regal.

He instructed his wife to evacuate the home and got to work shutting the door and calling the Weymouth Fire Department.

Thankfully no one was hurt. Weymouth Fire Keith Start says the fire caused plenty of water damage amounting to approximetly $100,000 dollars.
