NASHUA (WBZ-AM) -- Authorities are still investigating a weekend homicide in Nashua, New Hampshire, where a man was found tied up and apparently beaten to death.

The body of David Smith, 49, was discovered late Saturday night on Buck Street, a small side street. A crime scene investigation van was still parked there Monday morning. There have been no arrests.

A press release from Nashua Police later Monday said Smith was killed by a single gunshot wound.

People in the area have been told there's no threat to their safety, and that it was an isolated incident. One man told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens he didn't think they should be worried, "But I'd keep your doors locked--it's not the 1950s anymore."

"It's crazy," another area man said. "Usually around here it's pretty quiet, so yeah, it's pretty crazy."

Police were canvassing the neighborhood Monday, hoping area residents might have information that would help them crack the case. They have also asked anyone with information about Smith's murder to call Lt. Craig Allard at 603-594-3500 or to report information anonymously to the Nashua Crime Line at 603-589-1665.
