ORLEANS, MA (WBZ-AM) --  Some folks in Connecticut will be getting a surprise in the mail… no, it wasn’t something they ordered – it’s more of a “return to sender” scenario.

In June, a couple from Connecticut attended a wedding on Cape Cod --and for reasons unknown – three large bags of their trash, containing prescription bottles with their names and address and other identifying documents were discarded in the private dumpster of Viv’s Kitchen in Orleans.

Vivian Dufresne, who owns “Viv’s Kitchen” with her husband says she finds personal trash in her business’ dumpster about twice a week. On this particular day she received a call from the company that empties their dumpster saying she was going to be charged double because it was overflowing with garbage.

Viv says what they did next gave her staff a big kick.

They packed the garbage into a big box, and spent $19 to send it back to Connecticut!

"I took everything out that I can't mail and you know even the paint, the toxic stuff...I took care of that," she said. "All that they got back was paper work, you know paper bags from Wendy's and Dunkins Donuts...it gave my staff a laugh for the day ...we thought we handled it in a funny way." she said.

But Vivian and her staff probably won’t go to this much effort in the future

Vivian tells WBZ NewsRadio1030 that one of her other tenant in her building faced similar problems and contacted police who in turn made the one who left their trash return to pick up their trash.

WBZ NewsRadio1030's Laurie Kirby Reports.
