BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- It's not everyday Hollywood sets up shop in Brighton.
For a couple of hours Tuesday morning it was Hollywood Central at Kiki's Kwik-Mart in Brighton.
Camera crews and cast from Showtime Television were shooting scenes and keeping the store on Faneuil Street closed for a few hours.
The convenience store was the filming location for the show SMILF, a comedy television series starring Frankie Shaw, Rosie O'Donnell and Connie Britton.
According to the show description on Showtime's website, the series features Shaw, who plays a young single mom trying to navigate life in South Boston with an extremely unconventional family.
"It's very odd...everyone expects us to be open regardless because we are always open...so they are thrown off but it's nice to get a little change of pace here and it's exciting," said Sophia who is manager at the store.
Sophia tells WBZ NewsRadio1030 that at the time of the crew setting up she believed she might get an opportunity to play a role she knows very well.
" I might get to do the role I've been doing all my life which is a cashier," she said.
Janet, who lives in the neighborhood and didn't know that a film crew would around until she was out walking her dog.
" I was completely surprised...absolutely. It's very exciting," she said.
Just a few hours of shooting scenes in this neighborhood. Once the film crew finished and packed up and moved on to other locations in Boston. It was back to business at Kiki's after a brief time in the spotlight.
"This isn't typical for anything in Brighton, you never see celebrities or anything here so it's really interesting for us" said Caitlin who works in the store she said having the crew in the store was a fun experience.
"It was awesome they [the film crew and cast] were really accommodating," she said.
