BOSTON (WBZ-AM) -- All right, Red Sox fans, listen up: The team will try for their ninth straight win tonight against the Rangers at 7 p.m. with Chris Sale on the mound opposite Bartolo Colon but, first, the All-Star Final Vote ends at 4 p.m. and Andrew Benintendi needs your help.
Entering the day, the Sox outfielder trailed Mariners star Jean Segura for the last spot on the American League squad. You can vote at redsox.com and mlb.com.
Benintendi made a final plea to the fans last night on NESN.
"It'd be an awesome thing to go to, to represent the Red Sox would be awesome," he said. "To all the fans out there, I'd love to have your vote. Whatever happens happens, but I'm glad to be here in Boston."
Benintendi doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs in the latest win. He's 12-for-his-last-19 with five doubles, a homer, 4 RBI, and nine runs.
"Feeling pretty good," he said. "Still trying to figure some things out, just trying to fix some little things with my swing. But still, feeling pretty comfortable right now, just trying to help the team win."
Five straight multi-hit games. Benintendi's batting .367 this year with runners in scoring position.
