EAST BOSTON (24/7 NewsSource/WBZ-AM) -- A man wanted for being a serial graffiti vandal in the Boston area is in custody after his arrest in East Boston.
Marc Meadowcroft, 20 of Revere, was arrested Monday after a brief foot chase. After a judge learned there were warrants for Meadowcroft's arrest all across the city, he was ordered held without bail, and will face charges of vandalism in Boston Municipal Court.
Meadowcroft was wanted on multiple warrants for vandalism and for violating his probation. He was arrested for tagging in 2015, and at that point agreed to stop tagging MBTA property or risk a possible jail sentence.
I talked to a frustrated mom outside East Boston Court. Her son, Marc Meadowcraft--a serial graffiti artist--was in court on outstanding warrants: "You can't police them 24 hours a day. You try the best you can, but as a single mom...you want the best for your son."— Carl Stevens (@carlwbz) July 17, 2018
Outside East Boston Court Tuesday, Meadowcraft's frustrated mother told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens that her son needs help.
"I understand that he needs to, almost like he needs to get his art out there, I get that, or he needs to do something," she said. "But he has to do it in a productive way, use that energy in a productive manner, not destroying people's property."
