CAMBRIDGE (WBZ-AM) -- A teenage girl died after apparently being assaulted Sunday evening, leaving a Cambridge neighborhood stunned.
The 15-year-old girl was shoved to the ground around 6:30 p.m. on Cambridge Street near Warren Street, hitting her head. She had been walking to an acquaintance's house.
The girl, who has not yet been identified, was taken to an area hospital, where she died Monday afternoon. The Middlesex District Attorney's Office said they are investigating along with Cambridge Police.
Derek, who lives and works in the area, told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Ben Parker that there normally aren't any issues in the area.
"I haven't seen anything, I mean, I have three small girls myself, I've never had an issue with them," he said. "I'm fine with them going to the park or around the corner, it's pretty safe."
