AG Sessions Announces Multiple Arrests For ID Fraud

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- U.S. Attorney Jeff Session was in Boston Thursday to announce the arrest of several illegal immigrants who fraudulently used public funds.

Federal authorities are calling this operation "Double Trouble."

They’ve identified 28 people, who are mostly from the Dominican Republic who used the identities of American citizens in Puerto Rico.

Sessions describes them as “fraudsters” who stole over a quarter of a million dollars in medicaid and other benefits.

Authorities say one of the suspects arrested in this case has been a fugitive for 24 years, who escaped from a prison in Puerto Rico where he was sentenced to serve 40 years for murder.

WBZ NewsRadio1030's Bernice Corpuz reports.
