BLANDFORD, MA (WBZ-AM/24/7 NewsSource) -- All of the officers of one Hampden County, Massachusetts police department have resigned.
The Blandford Police Department, which had a roster of four officers, cited safety issues in its decision to step down on Monday, including cruisers that barely run, expired and poorly fitting bulletproof vests beyond their expiration dates, non-functional radios and inadequate staffing.
Blandford residents can still call 9-1-1 and a Massachusetts State Police Trooper from the Russell baracks will respond, according to town officials, and Hampden Sheriff Nicholas Cocchi says he's increasing his department's presence there.
The Town has a population of 1,253 according to at 2010 census.
