Passerby Helps Woman Escape Blaze In Weston

WESTON, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Police were the first to arrive in response to a 9-1-1 nine one one call from a passer by who reported the fire and stopped to help the homeowner, a woman in her eighty's, who had suffered second and third degree burns, but was still conscious and was on the porch.

"They were one of the porch helped her out got her out into the driveway when the police were the first one on scene. They wrapped up in some blankets and so we got here with an ambulance and she was transported," said Weston Fire Chief David B. Soar.

She was taken to Bringham and Woman's Hospital with third degree burns on her back, and her condition is currently unknown.  

The fire spread quickly through the home the chief described it is filled with debris. No word on cause. tate fire marshal investigators are looking into what caused the blaze to break out. No firefighters were injured.
