CANTON (WBZ-AM) -- A community is waking up with heavy hearts after a man who was fishing on Reservoir Pond ended up drowning in the water.

Authorities have not yet released the name of the man, who was in his 20s--but this is a neighborhood where everybody knows everybody, and they are grieving the loss of one of their own. One Shore Road resident told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Bernice Corpuz he called 911 after hearing his neighbor screaming for help just before 8 p.m. Wednesday night.

It was just a voice, I physically didn't see anybody out there, but the girl over here had ... First responders were here immediately, and they worked diligently throughout the night."

First responders, including a dive team, were there overnight, searching in the dark and murky water. The man's body was recovered around 2 a.m. It's not clear how the man ended up in the water. His boat was found nearby, right-side up.
