High E. Coli Levels Force Closure of Medford's Wright Pond

MEDFORD, MA (WBZ-AM) --  Swimmers won't be able to cool off from the heat in Medford Friday.

Wright's pond in Medford closed because of E coli bacteria levels. Officials say It is likely due to the hot, humid weather and its effect on stagnant bodies of water.

Lauren Phelps, Communications Director with the City of Medford, tells WBZ NewsRadio1030's Carl Stevens that residents will have access to the Pool at Tufts University to try to cool off. 

In the meantime they will continue to monitor E. Coli levels and try to re-open the pond to the public.
