DEDHAM, MA (WBZ-AM) -- Dedham Police have arrested a man who they say was making heroin deliveries for more than a year. Police say Bernice Mejia was arrested in the Oakdale section of town on Thursday.

Detectives say he gave them a fake identification when they stopped him by giving them a name of a man who lived in Pennsylvania. During booking, officers learned that Mejia had mutilated all of his fingertips, to keep his real identity a secret.

He wasn't even supposed to be in the United States. Mejia  was deported back to the Dominican Republic in 2013, after being convicted of selling drugs in West Roxbury.

He was charged with with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Distribution of Class A Substance, Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Act, Possession of a Fraudulent Registry of Motor Vehicle Document and Providing a False Name to Police After Arrest.

According to Police, Mejia is the second person they have arrested in two months of an individual selling drugs in Dedham with fraudulent Pennsylvania driver’s license.
