Former Patriots Dog Found Dead Inside Trainer's Closet

BOSTON, MA (WBZ-MA) -- The mystery of what happened to former New England Patriot player Jerod Mayo's-- dog has been solved with tragic results.

5-year-old bulldog -- Knox -- was found dead inside a dog trainer's home in Cranston, Rhode Island.

Trainer Amelia Ferreira originally reported the dog missing after taking him on a walk at the end of June. 

Dr. E.J. Finocchio from the Rhode Island society for prevention of cruelty to animals says Ferreira confessed last night that Knox had died and his body was in her home. 

An investigator went to the house and found the dog inside a closet in a trash bag.

Ferreira is facing charges of obstruction - for concealing evidence related to the investigation. No word on what may have killed Knox --- But Ferreira could face more charges pending a full investigation.
