BOSTON (AP) - Gasoline prices are up in Massachusetts with summer travel in full swing.
AAA Northeast said Monday its weekly survey found self-serve regular selling for an average of $2.84 per gallon in the Bay State, a 2 cent jump from last week.
Despite the increase, Massachusetts remains 2 cents below the national average of $2.86 per gallon.
AAA Northeast's director of public and legislative affairs Mary Maguire says demand for gasoline in the U.S. rose over the past week while supplies dropped. She says consumers will likely see an end-of-summer pump price rally as inventories continue to tighten.
Prices range from as low as $2.69 to a high of $3.09 across the state. A year ago at this time, gas prices were averaging $2.29 per gallon, 55 cents lower than the current price.
